About

Hi, Welcome to newfoldingbikes dot com

I launched this site at the beginning of 2008 when I started to take a real interest in these wicked folding bikes that I would see on my travels.

Presently I live in Taiwan where earlier in 2008 I had the chance to go to the Taipei International Cycle show and see lots of amazing folding bikes, the most memorable being the IF Mode with it's super fast folding capability which was smartly demonstrated to me by Strida designer Mark Sanders.

Since then I've taken up the challenge of constantly improving this site so it will become an easy to use source of info for everything relating to folding bikes.

Using this site:

So whether you're shopping for a new/used folding bicycle, wanting to read reviews of popular models or just want to see whats going on in the wonderful world of folders you should be able to find what you need here.

Search for a specific folding bike? <--- Click here
Want to read reviews of different folding bikes? <--- Click here

So far all the folding bikes for sale on this site are sourced from Amazon or eBay using special software. Please check out the page below for more info.

Why is Dahon’s Matrix 2008 cost $200-$250 more then their 2007 model? Is it just because of the LockJaw folding hinges (versus forged Lattice hinge) that was added? The 2007 already have Shimano disk brakes and Biologic Postpump. What else is new making this year version so much more money? With this cost, it is very close to the Cadenza price range.

Is it worth to buy the 2008 version or just stick with the 2007 model of the Matrix?

Does anyone know which part of the bike should be replace immediately with better parts? In the 2007 model, I heard Dahon use some less expensive parts to keep the cost low. Perhaps in the 2008 model there are more then the LockJaw folding system making the price up that much?

I highly doubt that it’s just the LockJaw folding hinges making it 200 bucks more than last years models. Other than Inflation I don’t see any reason for such a large price increase, try asking on the Dahon Forum.
