If you want to turn some heads with a funky looking folding bike then the BigFish folding bike is for you!
The video below shows how quickly this aluminum framed folding bike can be folded up into a smallish 104 by 64 by 31.5 cm package, It achieves this with a single frame and no big ugly hinge breaking up the sexy curves of the frame.
The BigFish folding bike also features 3 Speed Shimano Nexus inner gears which are less hassle than dérailleur gears as they need very little maintenance and can not get damaged during folding and unfolding. At a little over 600 USD the BigFish folding bike is slightly more expensive than other more well known brands yet I'll save my judgment until I actually get to ride it as it looks like a lot of fun.
I first saw this Folding Bike at the Taipei Bike show and knew right away that I wanted to own one! It's sleek minimalist design hides all the cleaver features that make this one of the best folding bikes I've ever come across.
The "Swivel-Head" technology that allows it to fold so quickly into a compact package is called Integrated Folding or IF for short which came from the clever guy you see in the video, Mark Sanders of MAS-Design. Pacific Cycles purchased the Swivel-Head technology last year and plans to release 3 Integrated Folding bikes this year.
The 3 models available will be the shaft driven IF Mode from the vid, the IF Cross full size folding mountain bike and the IF Reach which looks to be a smaller commuting style folding bike. They will be available in 700c, 26” and 20” wheel sizes and will include the patented 3D, 4-bar link technology that allows bikes to fold, almost instantly, into compact, 'wheelable' packages.
